WHY IS TIME BLOCKING SUCH A STRUGGLE?
What is time-blocking?
Time blocking is setting aside blocks of time for specific activities, both personally and professionally.
- Personal - Exercise, Meditation, Kids, Errands, etc.
- Professional - CRM, Listing Appointments, Showing Appointments, Negotiating Contracts, etc.
These time blocks are noted in your calendar and each day you do the designated activities in the time specified.
Time blocking is a way to prioritize your time.
Your time blocks act as guardrails to keep you focused on doing what is most important.
Time blocking is not an attempt to make sure everything gets done.
Time blocking is a practice to ensure that what is most important gets done on a daily basis.
Like most things in life, time blocking is more mindset than anything else.
Time is your most precious asset. It is the one thing that is truly limited. Whether we measure by seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, decades or a lifetime… we only have a finite amount of time. How you spend your time is strictly a personal decision. In the end, how you spend your time is how you spend your life. It is that simple.
There are many different layers to the time-blocking discussion including:
1. Relationships vs Leads
2. Time vs Money
3. Process vs Instant Gratification
Time blocking is something most agents struggle with tremendously.
Everyone wants to use their time more wisely.
The big question is... HOW?
No one is really interested in working more hours.
How do you break the habit of working 24/7 when everything seems so urgent and important at the same time?
Every day you hear... work smarter, not harder.
Again,... HOW?
Would it be crazy to think... you want to start valuing and allocating your time differently?
Instead of wasting time...
What if you started leveraging your time for greater results without working more hours?
All the struggles you have around time blocking can be traced back to how you value your time.
When you value leads over relationships, the last thing you are going to do is time block.
When you value money over time, the last thing you are going to do is time block.
When you value instant gratification over process, the last thing you are going to do is time block.
And finally...
When you treat all things equally... you are going to be overwhelmed with the number of things you are attempting to do and therefore... you are going to struggle with time blocking.
Every real estate agent is going to be challenged by today's real estate market.
No one is immune and you are going to feel the pressure of a market that is filled with uncertainty.
Now more than ever...
How you leverage your mind is critical.
How you leverage your time is critical.
How you leverage your relationships is critical.
How you leverage the power of process is critical.
How you leverage your skills is critical.
How you leverage knowledge, data, and information is critical.
If you believe you can handle everything on your own in terms of navigating through the obstacles ahead... I wish you all the best.
If you need help and want a steady, experienced hand guiding you through this obstacle course...
